New England Visit Forward Madison FC on Wednesday

June 29, 2021 – United Soccer League One (USL1) – New England Revolution II News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (4-4-1, 13 pts.) will close the month of June with a midweek contest at Forward Madison FC (3-2-4, 13 pts.), the club’s second trip to Wisconsin in 10 days. The USL League One contest is set to kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET and is available nationally on ESPN+.

Revolution II has put together consecutive clean-sheet performances, most recently claiming a 3-0 victory over North Texas SC at Gillette Stadium last Saturday night. Justin Rennicks, Ryan Spaulding, and Damian Rivera all tallied their first goals of the season over a seven-minute span in the second half, the latter converting from the penalty spot. For Rennicks, it was his fifth goal for Revolution II, the most in the club’s brief history. Connor Presley and Sean O’Hearn tallied assists on Rennicks’ game-winning goal while Jake Rozhansky added his team-leading third assist, and second in as many games, on Spaulding’s goal.

A season-high three Revolution II players were selected to the USL League One Team of the Week for Week 12 following the shutout win, as Spaulding, Rozhansky, and Rivera all earned the honor. Rivera makes his appearance on Team of the Week this season, while Rozhansky and Spaulding are on the squad for the second time this season. Spaulding has garnered the distinction after each of his last two matches.

With three wins in the last five games, New England has lifted itself above the playoff line into sixth place with a 4-4-1 record on the year. Two of Revolution II’s wins have come on the road – the season opener at Fort Lauderdale CF on April 10 and the most recent visit to Forward Madison on June 19.

Forward Madison FC enter Wednesday night’s matchup winless in the five matches with a 0-2-3 record over that stretch. Following a 2-0 defeat to New England on June 19, Madison played to a 2-2 draw at Greenville Triumph SC on June 23. The Flamingos raced out to a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes, but Greenville erased the deficit, netting the equalizer from the penalty spot late in the second half. In the all-time series, Madison holds a 2-1-0 advantage over New England.
