Milan got some positive news today, as Simon Kjær and Davide Calabria could return against Atlético Madrid, while Junior Messias is at the final week of his personal preparation.

The Rossoneri are still undefeated in Serie A after 4 matches, getting wins against Sampdoria, Cagliari and Lazio, and a draw last night against Juventus away.

As matches go on, the list of absentees grows. The latest to join it is Simon Kjær who left the pitch of the Allianz Stadium with an injury after 34 minutes on Sunday.

Milannews.it and Sky Italia today offered an update on the situation of the unavailable men:

Kjær underwent an MRI today which ruled out muscle injuries. He is suffering from a resentment in the flexor muscles of his right thigh but the situation as not as severe as feared. He’ll have a few days of rest and recovery and will try to be ready for the Atlético Madrid game next Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Davide Calabria is suffering from an elongation of the right thigh flexor muscles. He’ll certainly miss the matches against Venezia and Spezia, and like Simon he’ll look to be available in time for the Champions League game. Rade Krunić picked up a right calf injury while on international duty and the healing process is going well. A new medical check-up is scheduled next week.

Tiémoué Bakayoko picked up an injury on his “debut” with Milan against Lazio. He is currently heading from the after-effects of a major blunt trauma that involved his left Achilles tendon. Like Rade, Baka will be checked next week. They are both expected to return after the next break.

Olivier Giroud is feeling better and has started running. He could be called-up for the match against Venezia, although it’s hard to imagine that he’ll be given a start considering he’s barely trained with the squad since the start of September due to COVID-19 and injuries. Tomorrow it will be understood if he can make the bench. Zlatan Ibrahimović is doing a bit better and he trains separately from the squad to try and recover. He’ll undergo a test tomorrow and will likely return against Spezia or against Cholo Simeone’s Atlético at San Siro on September 28.

Finally, Junior Messias, who is not injured – but just unfit to play due to apparently a non-existent summer preparation, will proceed this week with the last phase of his personalized program.
