Pietro Pellegri is practically a new Milan player, with only the medical and the signatures missing.
There is the final OK from everyone: 20-year-old Pellegri will very soon wear the Red and Black colors of Milan and begin a new chapter in his career.
As reported by Milannews.it and Gianluca Di Marzio among others, today (Sunday), Monaco gave the green light and have agreed to release Pellegri.
The former Genoa striker has been plagued by a lot of injuries during his spell at Monaco and has failed to make a name for himself abroad. However, Milan still see the potential in the Italian and hope that he can grow alongside Zlatan Ibrahimović and Olivier Giroud in the next season.
The formula of the transfer is that of a paid loan (€0.5m according to Milannews.it and €1m according to Di Marzio) with a buy-out option set at €6m + bonuses related to the qualification of Milan for the Champions League. In addition, Monaco would be owed 15% of a future resale of the player. Pellegri is expected to have his Milan medical already tomorrow morning.
Pellegri, who before joining Milan would have to sign a contract extension with Monaco, played 16 games for the Ligue 1 outfit last season, scoring 1 goal – against Lille and Mike Maignan.
