Brazilian forward Maurides has officially left Changchun Yatai, moving to Korean club FC Anyang.
In an unsurprising turn of events, the 25-year-old has left the Northeastern Chinese club after struggling with fitness and impact during the 2019 season.
Maurides arrived in Changchun from CSKA Sofia ahead of the club’s first season back in the second tier, with the hope being that he could be rotated in with Richairo Zivkovic.
Unfortunately, the Brazilian only made 13 total appearances for the club, scoring two goals and adding two more assists, after suffering an injury that kept him out of the line-up for half of the season.
His injury and Jose Manuel Jurado’s departure back to Spain prompted then-manager Svetozar Sapuric to bring in Stefan Drazic, also a striker, to provide depth up-front.
Now, Maurides has been given a chance to start anew with K-League 2 club FC Anyang, joining them on a free transfer.
This move now officially leaves Changchun Yatai with Serginho as their sole import player for the 2020 season.
However, with the winter transfer window potentially being extended due to the coronavirus issue, the club still have plenty of time to make further additions to the squad.
