Tacoma Defiance (3-4-3, 12 points) on Sunday continues its four-match road stretch, facing off with LA Galaxy II (3-6-3, 12 points) at Dignity Health Sports Park (5:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+). This marks the third of four scheduled meetings of the season between the two sides, after Tacoma earned a 1-0 home win on May 16 and the clubs played to a scoreless draw on June 27. Wade Webber’s side began the current road stretch on July 3 with a 1-0 loss to Las Vegas Lights FC before a scoreless draw with Orange County SC on July 6.
Defiance returned to Cheney Stadium for a pair of matches at the end of June, earning a 1-1 draw against Real Monarchs thanks to a late goal from Samuel Adeniran on June 23, then a 2-0 win over LA Galaxy II featuring a brace from Ray Serrano on June 27. Tacoma suffered a three-match losing streak during its road stretch earlier last month, falling to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, Phoenix Rising FC and Las Vegas. Prior to that, Tacoma earned a pair of home wins last month at Cheney Stadium, capping a three-match unbeaten run to start the season. On May 13, Defiance emerged victorious in a 3-1 result over San Diego Loyal SC before recording its first shutout of the season on May 16, defeating Orange County SC 1-0.
