L’Équipe report that Marseille midfielder Pape Gueye has opted to represent Senegal at international level, and could appear in the squad for the African Cup of Nations in January.

The 22-year-old, who joined OM last year, had played for the French U18 and U19, but has now chosen to play for his parents’ country of origin after being convinced by Senegal manager Aliou Cissé.

The former Le Havre man, who briefly signed for Watford in 2020, made 32 Ligue 1 appearances last season, scoring 2 goals. He has 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
