Maritzburg United have released no less than four players in preparation for the upcoming season, the club confirmed in a statement.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Kwanda Mngonyama leads the clear-out alongside goalkeeper Jethren Barr.

The other two players are Daniel Morgan and Dusan Stevic who joined the Team of Choice not so long ago but had little impact since their arrival.
According to chairman Farook Kadodia, Barr’s contract was set to expire on 30 June, and the club opted to release him.

With Mngonyama and Morgan, Kadodia said Maritzburg United had options on their on their contracts but they decided against taking them.
“We would like to extend our sincere well wishes to Kwanda, Daniel, Jethren and Dusan for their future endeavors,” Kadodia said on the club’s website.

“Jethren’s contract had come to an end and we decided to release him.
“With Daniel and Kwanda, we elected not to take up options to extend their stays.

“We would like to thank the four for their hard work and commitment in the club’s cause, which has been much appreciated and valued,” he concluded.
