Manchester City Signing of Brazilian Youngster Finalized

[ad_1]

A couple of months ago there were rumors that Manchester City would be targeting a Brazilian youngster in the upcoming transfer window.

Going by the name of Kayky, it had been previously reported that he had been in talks to a move with Manchester City. It seems that the move has gotten the green light and City has landed their target.

Which other clubs were being linked with Kayky?

Although Kayky’s name seemed to come up out of nowhere, there were actually quite a few clubs that had been following the Brazilian wunderkind.

Liverpool and Shakhtar Donetsk were two of the clubs that had been linked with Kayky in the past. But it looks as if Manchester City has jumped to the head of the pack, and the transfer is reportedly finalized.

How much will the Kayky transfer cost Manchester City?

The official price tag for Kayky is likely to be unknown for some time. But most reports are saying that it is in the range of £10million plus add ons.

It is also being reported that the selling club Fluminense will receive a future sell-on fee in the transfer of 20%. There is also a possibility of another Fluminense player being included within the deal but that has not been confirmed as of yet.

Manchester City are close to signing the 17-year-old Brazilian player Kayky from Fluminense. The two clubs agreed a fee of €10m plus add-ons as well as 20% of any future sale in February and the deal is now expected to be confirmed by all parties.

This is quite a hefty price tag for such a young player. It seems as if Manchester City must think very highly of Kayky as they are willing to shell out this much for a 17-year-old.

He is considered one of the best young talents in South America and has two goals in seven appearances in the Brazilian top flight this season.

City Football Group and Fluminense are also discussing whether Metinho, a 17-year-old midfielder, could be part of the deal. (Via: theguardian.com)

It is also yet to be seen if the player will slot straight into the first team when he arrives in 2022, or spend some time in the academy to start.

Another possibility is that Manchester City will send Kayky out on loan in order to further develop before fighting for a first-team spot at the Etihad.

Conclusion

Whatever happens, there will be a lot of pressure heaped onto the young attacker’s shoulders.

It is not an easy feat to move abroad at the age of 18 (his age when he will make the move in 2022). But with the resources in Manchester, he could develop into their next Premier League star.
