Manchester City planning shake-up in summer transfer window

Man City’s 2020/21

Manchester City’s 2020/21 was another thoroughly impressive one that will be marred by their final game of the season.

The Sky Blues reclaimed their Premier League crown from Liverpool with relative ease and had the title wrapped up with games to spare.

They also won yet another League Cup after seeing off Tottenham in this year’s final. That was City’s fourth LC win in a row, drawing them level with Liverpool for the most League Cups won (8).

Man City would also make it to the 2020/21 Champions League final. City had never reached the last-two before and it is the one trophy that has alluded Pep Guardiola throughout his stint in England.

Unfortunately for Man City, they would once again fail to pick up Europe’s most coveted club prize this year as well, falling to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the final in Portugal.

Man City to make changes

Man City’s focus must now switch to their plans for the summer transfer window.

And on Monday, The Athletic have provided some insight into the plans at the Etihad for the forthcoming window.

According to Sam Lee, Manchester City’s intention is to make significant changes to their squad this summer, though he admits the reality may be somewhat different.

Lee goes on to explain that several players are unhappy about their game time this season and could be open to an exit. Though not mentioned specifically in the article, Raheem Sterling does seem like he may be one of those players.

In terms of incomings, City are not looking to bring in four or five players this summer. Instead, Jack Grealish and Harry Kane are believed to be targets, with Lee also stating that a cost-effective left-back would not go a miss.
