To say it’s been a tricky season so far for Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be an understatement.
The Red Devils sit sixth in the Premier League after a run of just one win in six top-flight matches.
This dismal sequence included a 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool and a comprehensive 2-0 defeat by Man City – both of which were at Old Trafford.
Five Premier League managers have lost their jobs this season but Solskjaer is still in the United hotseat, despite mounting pressure.
The Norwegian could possibly – if reports are to be believed – be handed a boost of a new defender to choose from in January.
According to Spanish publication AS, the Red Devils could be preparing to sign Sevilla star Jules Kounde ahead of Chelsea.
It’s thought that the Blues’ move for the France international broke down in the summer due to the Spanish club’s asking price.
Now it’s claimed that United, who have kept just one clean sheet in their last 13 matches, will “continue to monitor” Kounde’s situation with an eye to making a potential swoop.
The report indicates that the Old Trafford side will bid for the 22-year-old in January but they will need to match his £68m buyout clause.
If they do then it’s claimed Sevilla will have to let their star leave and will mean that Solskjaer has another centre-back to select from.
