While other Premier League clubs are dashing about, answering phone calls left, right and centre, Manchester United have been – until today it seems – quietly watching the transfer madness unfold while sipping on a Chai latte.
The Red Devils set out to deal with transfer business early, astutely securing the signings of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.
Neither of the £116million pair have been afforded their first Premier League start just yet, but their signings are major statements of intent next season – United will be challengers.
While the United board will be quite rightly patting themselves on the back over those signings, they will be disappointed about one player who got away from them.
England Under-19 player Noni Madueke has turned down a move to Old Trafford and has signed a new contract with PSV Eindhoven, according to The Daily Mirror.
The 19-year-old winger burst onto the scene with his dangerous dribbles and magical skills while playing in the Eredivisie.
He has already been labelled as the ‘next Sancho’, and he already has six goals in nine appearances this season.
His direct running style, technical ability with both feet, and his mature and clinical finishing has made him one to watch for all of Europe.
Now Dutch side have him secured on a deal until 2025 which also reportedly has a £68m buy-out clause for the youngster who was previously with Tottenham Hotspur.
