Mamelodi Sundowns have again set a new PSL record with a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday.

The Brazilians needed a Peter Shalulile goal to see off the Team of Choice at the Loftus Versveld Stadium on the day.
In so doing, Sundowns have become the first South African team to register 11 consecutive clean sheets in the PSL era, and thus overtaking Bidvest Wits.

Wits registered 10 consecutive clean sheets at the time, but it’s now history as Sundowns are now the new kings of clean sheets in the country.
Sundowns achieved this feat over two seasons, with their last league goal conceded coming on 26 May 2021 in their 3-1 win over SuperSport United.

Interestingly, Sundowns managed to record the 11 clean sheets despite using three different goalkeepers in the eight league games played this season.
Denis Onyango has played six games to date while Kennedy Mweene and Reyaad Pieterse have played a game each.

Onyango contributed six clean sheets while Mweene and Pieterse contributed three and two clean sheets respectively.
