LUFC aiming to secure Aaronson transfer

Leeds United managed to get through the recent January transfer window without adding any new players to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad, despite having some injury issues with two of their key players, Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips.

Even though it was a fairly quiet month behind-the-scenes at the Yorkshire club in terms of incoming transfers, it seems as though the Whites do have their eye on securing a deal for one player in particular in the near future.

What’s the talk?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Pete O’Rourke had this to say about the possibility of Leeds making an attempt to sign January transfer target Brenden Aaronson.

He said: “I think Leeds are really keen to try and get this deal done and prevent anybody trying to hijack it.”

Leeds were linked with a move for the 21-year-old last month and even had a bid of £15m rejected by RB Salzburg for him according to The Athletic.

Fans would be buzzing

Since joining the Austrian club back in the 2021 January transfer window from Philadelphia Union, the USA international has made 53 appearances for Salzburg across all competitions prior to their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, racking up 11 goals and 13 assists along the way.

This highlights his creative and attacking talents and why the Whites were so keen on signing him last month.

Taking into account how Leeds have only scored 27 goals in the 23 league games they’ve played so far in this campaign compared to the 40 they managed to score at this point last season, the Leeds fans would surely be pleased to have such a visionary player in their squad that is clearly capable of scoring and providing goals.

Should Leeds try and sign Aaronson in the summer?

No

Also, with Leeds having their club-record transfer Rodrigo now hit the age of 30, Aaronson could be a suitable long-term replacement for the Spaniard given his fairly young age.

Moving forward, if the Yorkshire club are keen on securing the midfielder’s signature once the summer transfer window opens for business at the end of the season, they may have to come back to Salzburg with a heftier transfer bid than they offered last month if they want any chance of bringing him to Elland Road this time around.
