Don’t look now, but the Reds are coming

Liverpool, despite the previous gaps in points, has never given up on winning the Premier League this season. They appear unwilling to concede to Manchester City and are only six points off of the lead with one match in hand.

This team is as resilient as any of the previous Jurgen Klopp outfits and continue to get goals from the likes of not only Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, but also the players around them. Their defense may give up more goals than they were used to during their last Premier League title run, but it’s still a strong and formidable outfit that through three matches against Arsenal, has yet to concede.

It seemed inevitable after Liverpool went down 1-0 against Norwich City that they, in time, would claw their way back and end up winning the game. The 3-1 final score was one of the least shocking things of the day, precisely because of how good this team is and how quickly they can turn things around.

Liverpool: A really good team with a very tough road

The road for the Reds will not be an easy one as matches against Chelsea, West Ham, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, the surging Southampton and Tottenham all still need to be played. While every team has difficult stretches, and Liverpool certainly have easier games as well, these next few months will be pretty daunting as a whole.

But few teams are better designed, or laden with talent, to weather an end of a Premier League season, alongside Champions League and cup ambitions, like Liverpool. While they mount their furious comeback in the Premier League, they still have their eyes on European glory as well. Players like Diego Jota, Roberto Firmino and new lad Luis Diaz will have to add even more precision and goals for Liverpool’s ambitions to be achievable.

Yet, they are all achievable, and that is a remarkable thing to be able to say towards the end of February. Manchester City, however, can say much the same at this point and that will be what makes the Premier League race even more fascinating.

Two of the best teams in the world are also in England, and they will be competing for the Premier League crown while also competing in Europe and in at least one domestic cup. There are a lot of places where things can go wrong in this equation but should both sides stay the course, the entire world will get a world-class showing from these two outfits.

As Liverpool and Manchester City continue to try to win the Premier League, it is important to remember how special it is what we’re witnessing. These two teams, whether you like them or not, are two of the best teams in the world and, when right, provide some of the most breathtaking football imaginable. It will be fascinating to see how they each play down the months, but Liverpool will be in it until the end.
