RB Salzburg forward Karim Adeyemi has insisted that he would sign for Bayern Munich if they made a transfer offer, amid links with Liverpool.
The 19-year-old has burst onto the European scene this season with a fantastic start to the campaign. Following six goals and one assist in league action before the international break, he earned his first senior Germany call-up.
However, he did not let the opportunity pass him by. Indeed, Adeyemi netted his first international goal in a 6-0 win over Armenia.
As such, Liverpool have had links with his transfer to the Premier League and his associations with the Reds make sense.
At 19, he would present impressive sell-on value, in line with Reds’ owners Fenway Sports Group’s policy. What’s more, Liverpool have done business before with Salzburg and linked club RB Leipzig.
Adeyemi began his career in Germany and moved to Bayern in 2009. However, he left two years later and ended up developing impressively at SpVgg Unterhaching.
Speaking to Marca, the teenager revealed that he would move to Bayern if they came back in for him.
“If [Bayern] made me an offer, I think I would choose that path,” he said.
“I want to show them what I can do, who I am and that it was a mistake to let me go. That motivates me.”
Still, Adeyemi’s former advisor at SpVgg Unterhaching has insisted that the player’s future lies in the Premier League.
Manfred Schwabl said: “German football would be well advised to bring it back.
“If he came back to Germany, it would only be an intermediate step. In the long run he’s a player for England.
“He stands for attack, is quick and ready for a duel. You have already seen that against Armenia. He can score goals and prepare. In the long run, the island will be his home.”
Pundit finds Liverpool transfer concern
As for Liverpool’s current forwards, the Reds have decisions looming over their futures.
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all see their current contracts expire in the summer of 2023.
While Salah’s future has been most in the spotlight, Michael Owen has sent a reminder that Liverpool have three of their four senior forwards out of contract at the same time.
