Diogo Jota is suddenly an injury concern for Liverpool now.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have a Champions League clash away to Atletico Madrid on the horizon a little later this month.

But reports from Portugal aren’t good for Liverpool.

That’s because Desporto has claimed that Jota was absent from his country’s squad last night due to a muscle injury.

The 24-year-old hadn’t trained in the days leading up to their friendly against Qatar, which they won 3-0.

And it remains to be seen how serious this problem is – and how long the former Wolves star, a £41 million signing in 2020, will be absent for.

Liverpool went into the international break with their fair share of injuries, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago and Harvey Elliott all sidelined.

Since then, Curtis Jones has picked up a knock, too.

Here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted to the Jota bombshell:

Positive

If there is a positive, it’s the fact that the Liverpool forward was left out of the friendly.

Imagine the outrage had he played in a meaningless friendly and got injured during the game.

That would’ve been a much tougher pill to swallow for Reds fans and now they must hope that this issue isn’t overly serious.

The other good news is that it’s only a muscle problem and doesn’t sound too long term, but time will tell.
