French champions Lille host Angers in Ligue 1 on Saturday at 4pm (UK time) looking to climb into the top half of the table.
Already Lille’s title defence looks dead and buried, with Jocelyn Gourvennec so far being unable to replicate Christophe Galtier’s heroics, as PSG sit atop the table and a whopping 16 points ahead of the reigning champions after just 12 games.

Lille vs Angers build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
It’s been a shambolic title defence from the reigning champions who, having parted from Galtier in the summer, are currently 12th in the table and 16 points adrift of the summit, making their 15 points accumulated the second lowest tally for a title holder after 12 games over the last 20 seasons, behind only Montpellier in 2012/13.
Angers meanwhile are eighth in the table after their explosive start to 2021/22, which saw them lose just once in their opening nine games, but reality has struck over the past few weeks, with Gerald Baticle’s Le SCO winless in three, while they have sealed victory in only one of their last eight Ligue 1 games.
- Lille (vs Sevilla): Grbic; Celik, Fonte, Djalo, Mandava*; Ikone, Andre, Sanches, Bamba; David, Weah.
- Angers (vs Nice): Bernardoni; Manceau, Traore, Thomas; Cabot, Mendy, Mangani, Doumbia; Fulgini, Cho, Boufal.
Sven Botman has missed the past three games with a groin injury and is not expected to be fit for this contest. Reinildo Mandava meanwhile is suspended for yellow card accumulation, collecting his fifth booking of the season last time out against PSG.
Player to watch: Mohamed-Ali Cho (Angers)
Mohamed-Ali Cho is producing wonders at just 17 years of age for Angers and looks set to enjoy a highly-succesful career in French football. The teenage talent has featured in every game this campaign for Le SCO, starting 10 of the club’s 12 Ligue 1 matches, and getting his name on the scoresheet twice, with his final-third exploits helping Baticle’s men enjoy a blistering start to 2021/22. A former England U16 international and now a fixture in the France U21 squad, the ex-PSG and Everton academy player took the plunge of moving away from more established youth ranks to test his luck at the Stade Raymond Kopa in western France. When he joined the Pays de la Loire club, he became the second youngest player to sign a professional contract in France, behind only Eduardo Camavinga, and that decision has paid dividends with the tyro now a mainstay in Baticle’s side.
