Leeds United: Fans react as footage of Papa John’s Trophy goal emerges online

A number of Leeds United fans have reacted online after footage emerged of a goal their Under-21s scored in a Papa John’s Trophy match.

The youngsters fell to a 4-1 defeat to Tranmere Rovers in their first of three away trips in the EFL Trophy. However, the game did at least provide one moment of magic for United.

After an hour of football, with the score at 3-0, 15-year-old Archie Gray managed to lose his man with some clever footwork, before sliding an incisive through-ball to Amari Miller who cut inside and finished smartly at the near post.

Can you remember where Leeds finished in these league seasons? First up: 2018/19

The Papa John’s Trophy official Twitter page shared a clip of the goal on their feed and the moment of quality caught the attention of many Leeds supporters:

“The assist is pure filth.”

“Archie gray looks insane. 15 years of age and playing with confidence and link up play like that.”

“Bit late to the party on this one but this is a lovely assist by 15-year-old Archie Gray. 15!! That’s mad. Go on lad.”

“Archie Gray moves like Kalvin Philips”
If his grandson can end up having a career anywhere close to as good as that for Leeds, these supporters will be in for a treat in the coming years.
