Jigawa Golden Stars defeated Makurdi-based Lobi Stars 2-1 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna in their NPFL Matchday 20 fixture on Saturday as the NPFL returned from its mid-season hiatus with a thriller.
The game did not come to life until the final 20 minutes when Samuel Stone Onukwube fired home from the penalty spot to put Jigawa Golden Stars 1-0 up. Impressive forward Mathias Samuel scored in the 84th minute to draw the visitors level in the game, before Abdullahi Lala converted from a corner kick just three minutes later in the 87th minute to secure all three points for Jigawa Golden Stars in the game.
Jigawa Golden Stars’ win takes them up to 12th on the log with 26 points, only two points behind Lobi Stars who currently sit in 9th place in the NPFL standings.
