Frank Lampard is close to being confirmed as the new Norwich City manager, according to my own sources.
Whilst on paper it might not seem like the ideal move for Frank Lampard, with Norwich sat rooted to the bottom of the Premier League having only won one game all season, but for Chelsea it is the best move possible.
Lampard has been promised a long-term project at Norwich, which is why it does appeal to him. However, it is still a bit of a risky move and for me, I’d have been looking more at Rangers. But the Norwich talks must have progressed and Lampard must have been happy enough to go with it, and massive luck to him.
But the biggest beneficiary from a Chelsea perspective will be us fans, the club, Thomas Tuchel, and most of all, Billy Gilmour.

Lampard LOVES Gilmour, and there is no way that he is leaving him out of his regular team selections like Daniel Farke has been. Lampard rates Gilmour highly and he even gave him plenty of opportunities in the Chelsea first team when he was here, so you know he will be perfectly looked after at Norwich if Lampard is confirmed as head coach, and he will get plenty of game time to come back to Chelsea with in the summer to prove his worth. This will only help the development of a top class player already.
If and when this is officially confirmed, you can guarantee that Gilmour will be celebrating the appointment just as much as Norwich fans will be, and Chelsea fans too!
Lampard and Gilmour have a great chance to work together again, and it worked great the last time around so let’s hope the two of them are successful together once again.
