LOS ANGELES – The LA Galaxy have loaned defender Giancarlo González to Liga de Fútbol de Primera División side Alajuelense through Dec. 31, 2021, it was announced today.
Since being acquired by LA at the beginning of the 2019 MLS campaign from Serie A side Bologna, González, 33, recorded three goals in 47 regular-season appearances (41 starts) for the Galaxy. The San Jose, Costa Rica, native began his professional career with Alajuelense, where he tallied six goals and two assists in 123 games played since making his debut for the club as a second-half substitute in a 3-1 win over Herediano on Aug. 3, 2008.
Internationally, González has made 86 appearances (82 starts) for the Costa Rica Men’s National Team since making his debut against Slovakia in 2010, including appearances in the 2014 and 2018 editions of the FIFA World Cup.
