The Kentucky Wildcats football program has been getting a lot of good news heading their way recently. With the first week of spring practice down, and heading into week two the hype behind the program is at a level it probably hasn’t reached before.
Let the hype train keep on rolling folks
Recently, two of the school’s top targets in the 2022 class included Kentucky in their top schools heading into a major stretch of their recruitments.
One of those prospects is Kiyaunta Goodwin. The Cats were joined by the powerhouses of college football in Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, and also joined by Michigan State.
Goodwin, an offensive tackle who attends Charlestown High School in Indiana, is listed at 6-7 and weighs in at 300 pounds. He is ranked 54th in the country by Rivals and 47th by 247 Sports Composite. Both have him as a four-star recruit and a top-10 tackle in the country.
Goodwin recently talked to Josh Helmdolt of Rivals about his top five schools, and here is what he had to say about Kentucky.
“I have a great relationship with Kentucky. They were the first school to offer me and they recruited me from that day until now, when I was heavy, when I lost the weight, nothing changed. It was always the same, always talking to me, always asking me how I felt about them. Knowing they actually do care is something that was very important to me.”
Going off of his words, it sounds like the Kentucky staff has to like where they stand in his recruitment. Obviously, going up against the name brand programs in college football is always going to be a tough task, but Kentucky is clearly in this.
Also including Kentucky in his final list of schools recently is safety Myles Rowser.
Rowser, who is from Belleville (MI), stands at 6-0 and weighs in at 185 pounds. Included in his final list of schools alongside Kentucky were Alabama, Arkansas, and Michigan State. A four-star recruit, he is listed as a top150 recruit in the country by 247 Sports Composite and Rivals.
If Belleville sounds familiar, it should. He is teammates with current Kentucky commit Jeremiah Caldwell. It is shaping up to be a fight to see which school is going to end up getting Rowser’s commitment.
Over the last several weeks, it has been trending that Rowser will eventually end up committing to one of the schools out of state, with Arkansas picking up a ton of momentum as of late. Hopefully, Steve Clinkscale and his staff can convince Myles to continue the Michigan pipeline to this defense.
Rowser is a former Michigan commit that reopened his recruitment back in June of 2020.
Kentucky currently has two commitments for the class of 2022 in Caldwell and Andre Stewart out of Georgia.
