Steven Gerrard has been urged to sign Scottish players this summer – by none other than the legendary Kenny Dalglish.
Gerrard and his Rangers squad are looking forward to a crack at the Champions League next season after romping to their first top-flight title in a decade.
The Ibrox club have already strengthen their ranks by signing Zambian striker Fashion Sakala on a free transfer but ex-Celtic and Scotland striker Dalglish insists they should take a look at the Scottish Premiership for reinforcements in order to help the national side prosper.
Speaking via the Daily Record, Scotland’s joint-record cap holder said: “Steven Gerrard could do with signing another couple of Scottish players to get them in the Rangers team – that might improve their performances as well.
“Steven’s got a few English and foreign players in there which doesn’t help us and they’re the best team in Scotland by far at the moment.
“But in saying that, Celtic still have a couple of boys playing for Scotland.”
Of course, Rangers already have several important Scottish players, such as Ryan Jack, Nathan Patterson, Scott Wright and Allan McGregor, but could Gerrard do with signing a few more this summer?
Only time will tell if Dalglish has a point or not.
