Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly made a bold decision on the future of head coach Stuart Baxter after calls for him to be sacked.

Amakhosi suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat at the hands of TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup this past weekend.
Consequently, squandering their only chance of winning silverware under the tutelage of Baxter this season.

And while there are calls for him to be fired, with a section of Chiefs fans preferring Arthur Zwane for the job, the management reportedly has a different view.
According to a source known to The Citizen, the 68-year-old Baxter will NOT be fired by Chiefs… at least for now.

However, he has been given a mandate to improve the team and ensure that Chiefs play the way it would help them win trophies next season.
According to the publication, should Baxter fail to end Amakhosi’s trophy drought next season, then chances of him being shown the exit door are huge.

And that’s because the management feels Baxter has the best possible squad at his disposal, the same publication reports.
Baxter signed a two-year contract with an option to renew for a further when he re-joined Chiefs in July 2021.

“The coach won’t be fired any time soon but the deal is that this has to be the rebuilding phase and next season the chairman is expecting the trophy drought to end or heads will roll,” said the source.
“Baxter has the best Chiefs squad in a while and a lot is expected from him – some of his contract deliverables include bringing in silverware.”
