Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Thembinkosi Biyela has urged the club to ‘break the bank’ to sign Mamelodi Sundowns star Themba Zwane.
Zwane is perhaps the hottest property in South African football right now and is in the best form of his life.
Biyela believes that the attacking star will unlock the best from former teammate Khama Billiat and should be a priority signing.
Kaizer Chiefs should break the bank to sign Zwane
While Billiat joined Chiefs from Sundowns, he was out of contract and the reality is it would take an obscene amount of money for the Motsepe clan to sell their star man to the Motaungs.
“Chiefs should break the bank for Zwane because they don’t have a superstar at the moment. Back in the day, big clubs used to have superstars and I was at Chiefs and we used to have Doctor (Khumalo), Pirates used to have Teboho Moloi and Sundowns had the likes (Harold) Legodi and others,” Biyela told Soccer Laduma.
Biyela doesn’t believe Kaizer Chiefs need to sign as many as 15 players as previously suggested but feels that eight top draw talents could restore the club to glory.
Amakhosi need about eight top players
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly targeted Buhle Mkhwanazi and Njabulo Ngcobo as defensive additions and Biyela agrees they would also be a great fit for Gavin Hunt.
“I think eight players would be enough for Chiefs to add to their current squad and mix them with the youngsters that are coming up, and some of whom have already been doing well in the first team. I know that Gavin likes the players who are tall and especially in defence and that’s why I am suggesting that they should go for Mkhwanazi and Ngcobo in making defensive additions,” said Biyela.
Kaizer Chiefs continue to generate endless streams of speculation ahead of what is expected to be a busy closed season for the Soweto Giants.
