Liverpool will be in the Premier League title fight till the end
Juventus strengthen their midfield with Sassuolo’s Locatelli
It was only a matter of time and that time has arrived as Juventus have completed the signing of midfielder Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo.
According to the BBC, the Italian giants agreed to take on Locatelli on a two-year loan with an obligation to buy in 2023. Once the option vests, Juventus will pay Sassuolo up to €37.5 million.
Locatelli had been one of the most discussed transfer rumors following a good showing at Euro 2020 with Italy. The 23-year-old played five games in the tournament where he found the back of the net on two occasions.
He featured in the final against England and became an impact player for the eventual European champions. To no one’s surprise, he drummed up interest and Juventus were there ready to snatch him up.
While they were the favorites to land him, Arsenal came in to try to sway a deal but, in the end, la Vecchia Signora came out on top.
This will not be Locatelli’s first time at a historic club in Italy as he started his career in AC Milan before he had a dip in form and eventually joined Sassuolo.
It was at Sassuolo where he rediscovered his form under manager manager Roberto De Zerbi.
With Locatelli signed, Juventus may now turn their attention to Barcelona and try to sign another midfielder on loan in the form of Miralem Pjanic. A lot of pieces need to be moved for that to happen but they can now scratch Locatelli off their to-do list.
