Joe Wainman is against Divock Origi to Leeds United suggestion

Joe Wainman, formerly of All Leeds TV, does not want to see Leeds United target Liverpool striker Divock Origi this summer.

Origi looks available for transfer, with The Athletic reporting that should a £15-20m offer come in for the 26-year-old, Liverpool will not prevent him from leaving the club.

It has led former Premier League forward Kevin Phillips to suggest that Leeds could make a move for him as they look for an alternative to first-choice No.9 Patrick Bamford.

Would you take Origi at Leeds?

Yes

No thanks

No thanks

It is a move, however, that Wainman would be totally against, keen for his side not to pick up Liverpool’s unwanted players.

“No, not for me,” Wainman told TIF. “I don’t think we need Divock Origi in the door personally. We don’t need Liverpool rejects, the players that they’ve struggled to get rid of.

“Patrick Bamford will play in the nine and if he gets injured, I think Rodrigo will take that.”

After some initial struggles, Rodrigo’s form really picked up towards the end of last season.

In final fixtures against Tottenham, Burnley, Southampton and West Brom, the Spaniard managed to score four goals, blanking only against the Saints. So if Bielsa does not end up bringing in a new striker this summer, then you probably would expect Rodrigo to deputise for Bamford.
