Cristiano Ronaldo could make his second Premier League debut when Manchester United host Newcastle at Old Trafford.
United made plenty of noise in the summer transfer market with Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane – but it was Ronaldo who overshadowed those acquisitions. United’s N0.7 could be the missing piece of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s title challenge.
It seems an age since the world saw Ronaldo in a United shirt, when he made 196 Premier League appearances, scoring 84 times, with 34 assists.
During that time he won the Premier League (3), FA Cup and League Cup(2). He also won his first of five Champions League titles and the first of four FIFA World Club Cup titles. At United, personal accolades include the 2008 Ballon d’Or.

The fans will have to wait for Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford because of the international break.
It’s frustrating for the Manchester United faithful, champing at the bit to watch their incredible forward. There are no guarantees for Ronaldo’s inclusion in next Saturday’s starting XI, but Solskjaer would be crazy to omit him.
Steve Bruce’s Newcastle find themselves one place above the relegation places and without a win. It’s going to take a miracle for Bruce’s side to come away with a positive result.
The Magpies have conceded eight goals in three games – the joint third-highest conceded for the season only behind Arsenal and Norwich City.
Bruce should worry about the prospect of playing against Ronaldo, a striker who lives for scoring goals. I like to stick to the facts, but on this occasion, I have empathy for goalkeeper Freddie Woodman and the Newcastle defence.
Ronaldo’s form is excellent. He scored twice for Portugal in their 2-1 win over the Republic of Ireland to become the all-time leading goalscorer in international football. According to Red Devil Armada, Ronaldo is no longer on international duty, giving him a chance to prepare for his Premier League return.
Don’t let Ronaldo’s age cloud your judgement. Manchester United re-signed Ronaldo because he’s a winner, and he knows where the back of the net is.
The veteran is in great shape, and don’t bet against Ronaldo picking up his fourth Premier League title. Newcastle could be in for a long afternoon at Old Trafford.
