Newcastle subject to successful takeover

On Thursday afternoon, the news that Newcastle fans desperately wanted to hear finally broke. Mike Ashley, for 14 years the scourge of the football club, had been released from his ownership of the North-East club, and instead the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund had taken over as new owners.

Amanda Staveley has since outlined the intentions of the new ownership, saying that Newcastle United deserve to be at the top of the Premier League, and in turn hinting at the potential of massive money being spent on Tyneside in order to make that happen.

Bruce set to depart

One man who could stand in the way of success. however, is current boss Steve Bruce. The English boss has no major honours to his name, and has failed to right the Newcastle ship, with the club currently floundering in 19th place and threatening relegation.

While he is expected to be sacked, the amount that Newcastle will have to pay him to terminate his contract has now been revealed. As per Tele Football (reported by Footballforall), this could be as much as 8 million pounds. Of course, this will now be small fry for the new owners, but will certainly come in handy to Bruce while he hunts for a new job.
