Hearts to host Kotoko under full capacity


The Government of Ghana has given a blossom effect to the Super clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko. The two giants face off on Sunday, February 20th, 2022 at 3:00 pm. The good news was confirmed by the National Sports Authority through a letter to the Ghana Football Association. The letter stated that the Accra Sports Stadium can take full capacity of 40,000 to host the Super Clash on Sunday.

It further affirmed that the Board of the NSA in consultation with the Ghana Health Service and the Covid 19 Task Force, gave the green light to the GFA. This would be in accordance with the fact by the GAF and the clubs involved would adhere strictly to the covid-19 safety protocols.

The communique directs the GFA to correspond with the NSA and covid-19 Task Force to ensure that there is safety at the Stadium during the game.

The statement also stipulates thus “The Ghana Health Service will mount vaccination centers at strategic points around the stadium to vaccinate all those who have not done it.”

This was made possible after the public gave an outcry to allow them watch the all-important match.

The match between Hearts and Kotoko was postponed earlier on when it was due to be played. The Porcupine Warriors from Kumasi lead the league table with their Accra rivals positioned at 8th. Kotoko have 36 points with Hearts having 24 points.
