Accra Hearts of Oak has piled an indirect pressure on their Arch Rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko after they moved to 53 points on the League table of the 2020|21 Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians beat
Medeama SC 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday night. Two goals scored by
Salifu Ibrahim and Benjamin Afutu in the second half was enough to secure all
three points for the Phobians.
The win against Tarkwa based Medeama puts Hearts on 53
points with a three point difference with second place team, Kumasi Asante
Kotoko.
This has redirected some amount of pressure on Kumasi Asante
Kotoko as they would need a win at all
cost to keep track on the league trophy. The two great clubs were both on 50 points
prior to this weekend’s league fixtures.
Kotoko will take on Tema’s Inter Allies in Accra on Monday
night. There is the need to win at all cost for the Fabulous lads to track on
the league trophy.
A slip by either Kotoko or Hearts in the five matches left
would go a long way to determine who wins the league.
Meanwhile the two sides have a game between them and this
would add more pressure and tension as it will be a determinant of the League
winners.
Hearts of Oak have not won it for almost 12 years.
