Former Tottenham Hotspur captain Gary Mabbutt has lavished praise on Harry Kane in an interview with Football FanCast and compared him to some of the great strikers of his era, including Netherlands icon Marco van Basten.
The Dutch striker is one of the all-time great centre-forwards, having won the Ballon d’Or no fewer than three times.
Van Basten also won the Champions League twice with AC Milan, the European Championships with the Netherlands in 1988, while winning the league three times each with Milan and Ajax.
Kane, of course, doesn’t have a similar laundry list of accolades but he was in electric form as Spurs beat Crystal Palace 4-1 last weekend.

The England captain scored twice, including a brilliant first-time strike from 25 yards that curled into the top left-hand corner, and also laid on an assist for Gareth Bale.
This season, Kane has scored 24 goals in 36 games in all competitions and has also laid on a staggering 16 assists, taking him to 40 goal involvements overall.
Mabbutt, of course, played against the likes of van Basten and he believes that the current Spurs striker is every bit as good as the Dutchman, while also name dropping the likes of Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish, who both became Liverpool legends.
He told FFC: “When you look at the best strikers in the world, you expect them to be able to do things others can’t do.
“I played against some great strikers, the likes of Marco van Basten and Karl Heinz Rummenigge, Dalglish, and Rush, and all those sorts of players.
“They have something that no other strikers have got and certainly, Harry has got those credentials.”
Kane will be out to lift a trophy this season, with Spurs still competing in both the League Cup and the Europa League.
They will play Manchester City in the final of the former and Dinamo Zagreb in the last-16 of the latter, with the second game coming later this week, prior to a north London derby clash with Arsenal.
