Getafe vs Sevilla build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
Getafe’s run of finishing the first ten La Liga positions came to an end last season. Pepe Bordalás’ side had ended up in eighth (2017/18), fifth (2018/19) and eighth (2019/20) before securing a 15th place berth last time out. Things could have turned out differently as the Azulones ultimately sat four points above the relegation zone. An opening round defeat against Valencia means Getafe could start a La Liga season with back-to-back defeats which is something they’ve experienced twice before in the club’s top-flight history (2004/05 and 2015/16).
Ever since they returned to Spain’s top division in 2001 the club from Seville have consistently finished inside the top half. Last season Los Nervionenses secured Champions League football at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan for a second consecutive year. Julen Lopetegui’s men were the best of the rest and they’ve started this new campaign on a strong note. Following their 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano the Andalusian’s can make history by winning their opening two La Liga matches for a third successive campaign which is something they’ve never managed before.
- Getafe (vs Valencia): Soria; Suárez, Mitrovic, Cabaco, Djené, Olivera; Maksimovic, Arambarri; Aleñá; Ramírez, Ünal.
- Sevilla (vs Rayo Vallecano): Dmitrovic; Rekik, Carlos, Koundé; Navas, Jordán, Reges, Acuña; Rodríguez, Idrissi; En-Nesyri.
Sabit Abdulai is the only player missing for Getafe heading into their matchday two fixture. As for Sevilla they go into Monday’s game missing the injured Lucas Ocampos while there are doubts over the availability of Ivan Rakitic, Yassine Bounou and Suso.

Player to watch: Youssef En-Nesyri (Sevilla)
The season before this one was Youssef En-Nesyri’s most prolific in La Liga as he netted 18 goals across 38 league appearances. Across his previous 105 outings in Spain’s top division — spanning five seasons with three different clubs (Sevilla, Leganés and Málaga) — the Morrocan centre-forward would score 22 goals. Heading into this latest campaign the 24-year-old was linked with a move away but nothing transpired and he was on song in their opening round win over Rayo Vallecano by scoring once and creating another as Sevilla ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at home.
