One of maybe the more unlikely of Arsenal transfer rumours of late is that former star performer Alexis Sanchez would be open to a return this upcoming January, with Inter Milan likely to sanction his departure.
Sanchez left Arsenal for Manchester United in 2018, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going in the opposite direction – a transfer swap deal that didn’t work out for either club.
In quotes carried via the Express, taken from a now-deleted social media post, Sanchez wrote in 2020 that his move to United felt like a mistake from day one and said;
“The first training I had I realised many things. home and I told my representative: ‘Can’t the contract be terminated to return to Arsenal?’
“They start laughing and I told them that something did not sit right with me. It had already been signed.”
It’s reported that Alexis Sanchez will be available to clubs on a free in the new year, and while there’s a sour taste for going to Manchester United, fans will have fond memories of the 80 goals scored for the Gunners by the Chilean.
Don’t Miss:
The feeling is that this is just transfer talk without much substance, and Arsenal are unlikely to go down the route of an ageing player, badly out of form.
