Former Chelsea boss threatens to haunt club with swoop for two stars | Shoot

Thomas Tuchel’s tenure at Stamford Bridge continues to go from strength to strength, with his side having beaten Swedish side Malmo 1-0 in their latest outing in Scandinavia.

Chelsea have won 11 of their 17 games in all competitions so far this term, with three of their draws resulting in penalty shootout victories.

Having already secured the UEFA Super Cup, Tuchel’s side could be on for a potential sextuple having reached the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup and edged closer to qualification for the next phase of the Champions League.

Tuchel has already added a Champions League and Super Cup to his long list of honours as a manager since arriving in the capital, and is also credited with transforming a number of the club’s previously fringe players.

The likes of Ross Barkley and Callum Hudson-Odoi have all shown improvement of late, while Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all look to be back to their best.

It might not all be plain sailing to come tough for Tuchel, as it appears that one of his predecessors could be trying to snatch two of his prized assets away from SW6.

Abraham could be joined in Rome by two of his former Chelsea teammates

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Jose Mourinho is plotting a double swoop of his former club, attempting to take Loftus-Cheek and Rudiger to the Italian capital with him.

The former Blues boss, who guided the club to its first, second and fourth Premier League titles, joined AS Roma in the summer having departed Tottenham, and has already signed Tammy Abraham from his former side.

It appears that the Portuguese is not done there, however, as he is apparently planning audacious moves for the Chelsea pair.

Both Loftus-Cheek and Rudiger have emerged as fan favourites in recent months, having both looked to be out of favour at the club under previous boss Frank Lampard.

The midfielder had been imperious a few seasons ago before sustaining a serious injury during a friendly fixture, while Rudiger has shaken off doubts about inconsistency to prove himself as one of the division’s best central defenders.

The report also states that Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, who worked under Mourinho last season, is also on the manager’s list of transfer targets as he looks to bolster his squad.

This is Mourinho’s second spell in Italy, having enjoyed a successful stint with Inter Milan between 2008-2010.
