On Sunday night, Fluminense came back from a two-goal deficit to level the game 2-2 thanks to a late penalty from Abel Hernández in the 94th minute.
With goals from Lucas Evangelista and Artur in the first half, Massa Bruta led 2-0, but the Tricolor Carioca fought back in the second half to tie the game with goals from Caio Paulista and Abel.
In the first few minutes of the game, Bragantino got off to a better start than Fluminense. It didn’t take them long to establish their domination, as they scored within the first seven minutes of the game.
The visitors were forced to make numerous errors as a result of the persistent pressure from Massa Bruta, which condemned them in conceding the first goal.
Ytalo retrieved the ball and supplied a fantastic pass to Lucas Evangelista, who scored with a hard and low shot from outside the box after Fluminense’s poor ball handling in the sixth minute.
Fluminense began to venture out more and take more risks after falling behind by one goal. As a result, they were able to create more goal scoring opportunities and make the game more balanced.
Caio Paulista, on the other hand, committed another error in the centre of the pitch, allowing Jadsom to play Ytalo through, who then found Artur to make it 2-0 for Bragantino before halftime.
In the second half, Fluminense created numerous great goal scoring opportunities, but they didn’t score until the 75th minute, when Bobadilla deflected an effort towards Caio Paulista following a corner kick. The forward used his chance to head the ball to make it 2-1.
Furthermore, late in the game, just before the final whistle, Fabricio Bruno handled the ball in the goal area, resulting in a penalty, which Abel Hernández converted to tie the score at full time.
Bragantino will face Corinthians at the Neo Qumica Arena, on Thursday while Fluminense takes on Santos at Maracanã.
