Frisco, TX – FC Dallas (5-7-6, 21 points) defeated Austin FC in the first MLS matchup (4-9-4, 16 points) 2-1 at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night.
Game Summary
First Half:
7′ – SAVE (DAL) – Jimmy Maurer made his first save of the night after denying Austin’s Manny Perez from very close range after receiving a cross from Daniel Pereira.
15′ – SAVE (ATX) – Ricardo Pepi fought off his defender and fired a low ball to the far post from inside the box, but Austin’s Brad Stuver was quick to make the save.
25′ – SHOT (DAL) – Pepi received a headed pass from Ryan Hollingshead but his right-footed shot went over the crossbar.
Second Half
50′ – GOAL (DAL) – Szabolcs Schön laid it off to Ryan Hollingshead whose first time shot was sent to the bottom right corner of the goal to give FC Dallas the 1-0 lead.
61′ – SAVE (ATX) – Bryan Acosta’s through ball was met by Pepi who was able to beat his defender and unleashed a shot that was pushed away for a corner kick by Stuver.
63′ – GOAL (DAL) – Jesús Ferreira scored the second goal of the night after Nkosi Tafari forced a turnover and sent a pass to Schön who then slipped the ball past Austin’s defense and connected with Ferreira.
