November 12, 2021 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF announced today the details of the second edition of the Copa de la Familia presented by Wendy’s. This year’s fan-favorite event will see fans Luis Beuses, Raphael Macedo and Daniel Marquez battle it out on EA Sports™ FIFA 22 on PlayStation®5 against First Team players winger Edison Azcona and defenders Leandro González Pirez and Christian Makoun on the big screen at DRV PNK Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 20.
Beuses, Macedo and Marquez earned their spot in this year’s Copa de la Familia presented by Wendy’s in the preliminary rounds of the tournament, a new addition to the event, which took place on Nov. 7. Aiming to represent the Inter Miami fan base in this year’s edition of the tournament, 34 fans participated in the single-elimination competition featuring EA Sports™ FIFA 22 matchups on PlayStation®4 at DRV PNK Stadium. The preliminary rounds were streamed on Inter Miami’s Twitch channel and featured commentary by the Club’s eMLS athlete IMCFPabs, Club broadcaster and former MLS coach and player Thomas Rongen and commentator Joe Malfa.
The fans will enjoy a unique experience, including a behind-the-scenes tour of DRV PNK Stadium, being presented their official jerseys for the Copa de La Familia tournament and carrying out pre-match interviews in the First Team’s locker room, before facing the First Team players. This year, the fans will aim to defeat the players after Team Inter Miami CF, composed by forward Julián Carranza, defender LGP and midfielder Blaise Matuidi, topped Team La Familia, made up of fans Daniel Escobar, Marcos Hernandez and Haley Sauls, to clinch the title in the first edition of the Copa de la Familia in 2020.
Beuses, Macedo and Marquez will be on a team that will take on a team conformed by Azcona, LGP and Makoun in three EA Sports™ FIFA 22 matchups on PlayStation®5 to define the champion. The winner will be determined by the aggregate score from the three matchups.
