Everton will listen to offers for James Rodriguez this summer, the club’s former forward Marcus Bent has exclusively told This Is Futbol.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder was brought to the club last year by Carlo Ancelotti and is now being linked with another reunion with the Italian at Real Madrid.
According to the MailOnline, Rodriguez’s representatives are trying to engineer a return to the Spanish giants, although that presently looks unlikely.
Would you be devastated to see Allan go?
Would be gutted
He can go
Atletico Madrid, Napoli and AC Milan have also been mentioned as possible destinations and Bent expects Everton to listen to offers for the Colombia international.
“They said he did really well at the start of the season,” the ex-Everton player told TIF. “Obviously dropped off a little bit. It wouldn’t be a disaster if he went.
“They’d listen to offers, but it wouldn’t be a disaster if he went, but they’d like him to stay.”
Rodriguez was one of Everton’s most creative players last season. He provided four assists in the Premier League and averaged 1.7 key passes per game, the highest in the squad (via WhoScored).
Undoubtedly, the former Real Madrid attacker is a quality player. However, he has had his injury problems and is seemingly looking for a way out of Goodison Park, so perhaps it does make sense to at least consider letting him go in this transfer window.
