EPL Wrap: No Pep Panic as Liverpool Cut Lead to Six Points

The Premier League title race is on! But Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola refuses to get caught up in the hype after his side’s lead was cut to six points.

City were beaten 3-2 at home as Harry Kane scored a double for Tottenham, while Son Heung-Min provided two assists on Saturday in the late kick-off.

Earlier, Liverpool had trailed 1-0 at home to struggling Norwich City, before three second-half goals clinched a 3-1 win to narrow the gap. The Reds also have a game in hand.

“I said a few weeks ago we need to win many games,” Guardiola told reporters. “Every game will be a big, big battle.

“We knew it, and it will be good to understand how difficult it is. Since October we didn’t lose one game in the Premier League.”

The result means Spurs, who had lost three in a row coming into the game, have beaten City twice in the league this season, having edged them 1-0 early on.

“I had the feeling they have fantastic players and a fantastic manager, Guardiola added. “We knew after three defeats they would be back. There was practically no space in the area.

“After that, they could keep the ball and with Kane, it gave time to Son who could run. In general we were there all the time. We were there but we couldn’t win.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Mohamed Salah who netted to bring up his 150th goal for the club.

“Nobody could have expected that day when he scored at Watford that in this short period of time it would be possible for him to score 149 more,” he said. “Really special.”

Salah added: “Of course I’m happy to score 150. I’m always proud to score for this club, and the most important thing is to win games, which is what we did today.”
