Matchday 31 of the 2020/21 NPFL season is set to hold on Sunday, July 4th, with all 10 games billed to kick off by 4 pm.
In the day’s biggest match, Enyimba will play host to rivals Rivers United at the Enyimba International Stadium in what promises to be a grudge match. Both sides have recent history, with Enyimba having knocked Rivers United out of the CAF Confederation Cup on penalties earlier this season. Rivers United triumphed in their most recent encounter at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. Both sides are separated by one point and one place on the NPFL log, and they will look to resurrect their respective title charges starting now.
Table-topping Akwa United bounced back with a win over Nasarawa United last time out but face another tricky trip up north to Plateau United at the New Jos Stadium in their Matchday 31 fixture. The Promise Keepers know that they need to rack up the wins if they are to end up winning the NPFL title this season.
Kano Pillars would be hoping to be able to call on the services of Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa when they host Lobi Stars at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna. Kano Pillars will be looking to pick up all three points from the game, having lost ground in the NPFL title race.
Kwara United will be looking to avoid consecutive NPFL defeats when they host Rangers International at the Kwara State Sports Complex. The Afonja Warriors remain in the NPFL title race, but the next couple of matches would be instrumental to their fate.
Heartland will be looking to finish the season strongly when they host relegation-threatened Sunshine Stars at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri. The Akure Gunners will have their hands full as they look to avoid relegation from the top flight.
Bottom-of-the-table Adamawa United play host to MFM FC at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe as they look to mount a miraculous escape from near-certain relegation to the NNL. MFM are in good form, having defeated Kano Pillars in their last game.
Wikki Tourists will host Dakkada FC at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi as they look to pull away from the relegation troubles in the league and secure a midtable finish to the 2020/21 season.
Katsina United will welcome FC Ifeanyi Ubah to the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium for their NPFL Matchday 31 clash. Both teams are in real danger of facing the drop, and the Anambra Warriors will be looking to build on their impressive win last time out to escape relegation.
Nasarawa United will be looking to close the gap to Akwa United when they face Jigawa Golden Stars at the Lafia Township Stadium. The Solid Miners lost to Akwa United and will be keen to improve their performance and win this game.
Warri Wolves continue their battle against relegation when they host Abia Warriors at the Ozoro Poly Stadium in Delta. Abia Warriors are on a poor run of form currently, and the game is there for the taking, with both sides seemingly capable of picking up all three points.
