After 33-years of service to Arsenal, fans are saying goodbye to a club legend in Steve Bould – the former defender, assistant manager and now outgoing U23 coach will leave this summer (via Sky Sports Transfer Centre).
The departure will be deeply felt in the coaching staff and among players and continues to usher in a new era under Mikel Areteta, as well as the transitional job the entire squad and club is seemingly going through.
Arsenal Academy boss Per Mertesacker was full of praise for Steve Bould;
“A fantastic servant for us on and off the pitch. This has been a very hard decision to make. Steve’s contribution to the under-23s and the club as a whole has been huge and he will always be an important figure in our history.”
While Technical Director and former midfielder Edu also praised the outgoing coach:
“We are massively grateful to Steve for everything. He has helped develop so many top professionals and his experience and character has had a huge impact. I would like to add my thanks for his contribution and wish him and his family well for the future.”
