Earthquakes Face Real Salt Lake Tonight

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes (3-6-6; 15 pts.) will face Real Salt Lake (7-4-4; 25 pts.) at Rio Tinto Stadium tonight at 6:30 p.m. PT. The match will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050 (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).


San Jose has only lost one of their last six matches, most recently playing to a scoreless draw vs. Nashville SC at GEODIS Park last week. The Quakes have found recent success in Utah, winning their last two road games at Rio Tinto Stadium (W 2-1 on May 7, 2021; W 4-3 on Oct. 31, 2021). The Earthquakes are led by forward Jeremy Ebobisse, who is tied for the league lead with nine goals, and midfielder Cristian Espinoza, who is tied for the league lead with seven assists.

Real Salt Lake enters Saturday’s game with a 7-4-4 record this season (25 pts.), occupying third place in the Western Conference. The Utah side has won 12 of their last 15 games at home, including five victories out of six home matches this season.

The two clubs faced each other three times in 2021, scoring a combined 17 goals in those matches. Saturday’s game will mark the first of two matchups between San Jose and Real Salt Lake during the 2022 season. San Jose will host Real Salt Lake at PayPal Park on July 30.
