Seville outlet Estadio Deportivo has confirmed what Onda Bética revealed a few days ago: Diego Godín could return to La Liga with Real Betis.
Negotiations between the centre-back and the Andalusian side are at an advanced stage. The former Atlético Madrid captain would have to reduce his salary considerably. Betis are offering him a two-year contract plus an optional one for €1 million a year.
The 35-year-old currently plies his trade at Serie A club Cagliari. If the deal goes through, the Uruguayan would reunite with head coach Manuel Pellegrini. The pair worked together at Villarreal from 2007 to 2009.
