Davis set for Villa loan exit

An update has emerged on the future of Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis…

What’s the talk?

According to The Athletic’s Gregg Evans, Aston Villa are set to send Keinan Davis out on loan this summer after deciding that he will not be a part of the first-team plans heading into the first part of next season.

The report claims that nine Championship clubs are now in the running to land him on a temporary deal. No specific teams have been named at this moment in time.

Fans will be delighted

Villa fans will be delighted with this news as a loan move to the second tier is the best option for Davis at this point in his career.

There is little benefit to him sitting on the bench or watching on from the stands as Ollie Watkins continues to impress for the club in the Premier League and he has shown no signs of being able to displace the former Brentford man.

Davis has scored just three goals in 73 senior matches for the club, which is a disappointing return to say the least for a centre-forward. Last season, the 23-year-old scored once in 15 Premier League matches, averaging a dismal WhoScored rating of 6.36 for Dean Smith’s side.

Former Villa player Lee Hendrie said earlier this year that the attacker “doesn’t score enough” and that his lack of goals are letting him down. The pundit explained that the rest of his game has impressed him, in terms of his work across the pitch, but his final product is hurting him.

He told Football FanCast:

I’m really, really pleased for Keinan. He’s got himself back fit again and I’ve got to say he’s really impressed me. The only thing with Keinan is that he just doesn’t score enough goals, which is the big downfall for him because the work he does in and around the pitch.

“Every time I’ve seen him come on, he does look like something different that Villa [can] bring and, you know, fortunate for Ollie that he’s coming on and giving him that second striker, which is helping him out there.”

This shows that he is still missing something from his game. Therefore, Johan Lange sanctioning a loan to a club in the second tier could be perfect for the £25k-per-week earner. Davis could join a team competing for promotion and, hopefully, start scoring regular goals to boost his confidence and make him a better player ready for Villa to use in the 2022/23 season. This is why Villa fans will be excited to read this update.
