BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) — Colombia international midfielder Edwin Cardona is close to joining Racing Club from Mexican side Tijuana, according to media reports in Argentina.
Cardona has agreed in principle to personal terms after Racing manager Fernando Gago identified the 29-year-old as a priority transfer target, according the Ole news outlet.
It added that Racing were willing to pay around 3.3 million U.S. dollars for just 50% of the playmaker’s economic rights.
Racing finished 15th in the 26-team Argentine Primera Division standings in 2021.
Cardona has been capped 45 times for Colombia’s national team and is seeking regular first-team football in a bid to be included in Colombia’s squad for the 2022 World Cup.
