Coach Halilhodzic hopes to replicate World Cup feat with Morocco

Morocco coach Vahid Halilhodzic has said he hopes to replicate the exploits he achieved when he steered Algeria to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Desert Foxes, with Halilhodzic at the helm, nearly stunned Germany in a round of 16 match before the eventual World Cup winners registered a hard-fought 2-1 win.

The coach said he thinks there is a possibility for him to scale the same heights this time around with Morocco.

“It’s a very difficult draw with Croatia, Belgium and the best team in North America,” Halilhodzic told Fifa website.

“In Brazil (in 2014) with Algeria, I almost achieved a huge feat against Germany (a hard-fought 2-1 loss after extra time in the Round of 16), so I’ll try to do the same with Morocco. Everything is possible – you have to believe in it.”

The draw for the 2022 Qatar World Cup took place on Friday where Morocco were put in Group F.

Other Africans Senegal are in Group A alongside the Netherlands, Qatar and Ecuador with Tunisia in Group D with France and Denmark.

Ghana have Group H company with Portugal, Uruguay and Korea whereas Cameroon, Switzerland, Serbia and Brazil complete Group G.
