Chopping and changing has cost Wednesday

Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that the Owls’ failure to settle on one manager has cost the club this season.

While Wednesday are still in with a shot of staying up, time is starting to run out for Darren Moore’s men.

Wednesday have found themselves in the wrong half of the table all season after starting the campaign with a 12-point deduction, later halved to six, for breaking EFL spending rules. And while that has no doubt impacted them this term, Palmer believes all the chopping and changing in the dugout is what has really hurt his old side.

Will Wednesday be able to keep Windass this summer?

Yes

No

No

This season, Garry Monk, Tony Pulis, Neil Thompson and Moore have all had spells in the Hillsborough dugout under the Dejphon Chansiri regime.

When asked what has been the main issue at Wednesday, Palmer told FFC:

“I one hundred percent believe that any one of the three managers, Garry Monk, Tony Pulis or Darren Moore, [had they] been in all season, they wouldn’t be in this position. It’s just nonsense, the chairman chopping and changing.”

Indeed, Chansiri is certainly not afraid of wielding the axe. But with that approach not yielding too much success this season, it will be interesting to see if he remains with it going forward.
