Chicago Fire FC Forward Robert Berić Receives U.S. Green Card

CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC today announced that forward Robert Berić has received his U.S. Green Card, granting him permanent resident status in the United States. With permanent resident status, Berić will no longer occupy an international slot on the Fire’s roster.


Berić, 29, was originally signed by the Fire as a Designated Player on Jan. 18, 2020. In 30 appearances (29 starts) with the Club, the striker has tallied 13 goals and two assists. His team-leading 12 goals in 2020 were tied for the second-most in the league.

The Fire now have eight international players under contract for the 2021 season: Ignacio Aliseda, Jhon Espinoza, Gastón Giménez, Stanislav Ivanov, Chinonso Offor, Boris Sekulić, Luka Stojanović and Carlos Terán.

Chicago is currently in the second week of a three-week break from MLS regular season play due to the FIFA window. The Fire will return to league play on Saturday, June 19 against the Columbus Crew at Historic Crew Stadium. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast live on WGN-TV, CFFC Live and TUDN 1200 AM.
