CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC and Chicago’s Very Own WGN-TV today announced the Club’s English language broadcast schedule for the 2022 campaign. Of the Fire’s 34 regular season matches, all 29 local broadcasts will be carried on WGN-TV for a third straight season.
As the Fire prepare to kickstart a new era, led by head coach Ezra Hendrickson and global superstar Xherdan Shaqiri, WGN-TV’s regular season schedule will begin with the team’s season opener against Inter Miami CF in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Saturday, February 26 (5:00 p.m. CT).
Additionally, the Fire will continue to provide a free live stream for locally televised matches via CFFC Live, which can be accessed on the Club’s website and mobile app. Per League rules, the stream will only be available for fans located within 75 miles of Soldier Field. Tyler Terens and U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer Tony Meola will return to the broadcast booth for a third straight season. Arlo White, the voice of the Premier League for NBC, will also call a select number of summer matches for the Fire for a second consecutive season.
In addition to carrying the Club’s locally televised games, WGN-TV will air a Chicago Fire FC Season Preview Special and three 30-minute episodes of “No Little Plans” in 2022. The Season Preview Special will air at 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 26, 30 minutes prior to the Club’s season opener against Inter Miami, covering the key storylines heading into the 2022 season.
A Chicago Fire FC production, “No Little Plans” will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the first team, chronicling the new faces and storylines for this season. The first episode is set to air at 4:30 p.m. CT on March 5, 30 minutes prior to the Fire’s home opener against Orlando City SC at Soldier Field. WGN-TV will also continue to cover Fire matches on a regular basis on the “GN Sports” show, which airs each night at 10:30 p.m. CT.
